For me, 'Invisibles' is first and foremost a candid conversation with myself. It is a conversation with the person I used to be — someone who wasn't attentive or sympathetic during the first phase of the Russo-Ukrainian war, and who wouldn't listen to those living in a different reality even back then. Meanwhile, it is a conversation about our society: one prone to making mistakes and postponing 'awkward' subjects, yet capable of standing together in a common struggle when the time comes. It is a story of us growing up and learning.

The zine became a medium that allowed me to graft new contexts onto my story: I embraced irony, some kitsch, and a mixture of the sublime and the down-to-earth — this, too, is my love for all things Ukrainian. After all, it is often through laughter that we come to comprehend complex subjects. So, this is a story about us gaining agency despite our disconnect, about the mistakes we made along the way, and, ultimately, about why it is so important to listen to one another beforehand.
