“Never again”, “Never forget, never forgive”, “Heroes don’t die”, “Eternal memory” are well-known and standard phrases that people mindlessly repeat in memorial processes. The author leaves these words on the dusty surfaces of the city and offers us the chance to think about our ways of remembering and the tools we choose for commemoration.
Memory is an ethical act that forms our sense of present and past. How do we talk about and remember our past? What deserves our attention and what does not? What is the place of traditional memorials? What are the future memorials of events and experiences of the current time? What narratives do we construct? And do we need a new language of commemoration?
